Pro bono · Corporate social responsibility
Our pro bono work.
Criminal law is not one of the firm's specialist areas. We take pro bono criminal cases as our corporate social responsibility, focused on the protection of children, cases involving abuse, and the defence of vulnerable and indigent people.
01Why we do it
Responsibility, not a practice area.
Commercial law is our core. Our pro bono criminal work sits apart from it: it is how the firm gives back, not a service we market.
Our CSR partner, the Goldcoast Developmental Foundation, refers cases to the firm and supports the pro bono lawyers who take them on. Cases also reach us directly.
Pro bono matters run through the same disciplined process as every other matter, without fees or payment steps, and the firm reports its pro bono matters and hours separately.
02Our focus
- 01
The protection of children
Representing children whose safety, welfare or liberty is at stake, and the adults acting to protect them.
- 02
Cases involving abuse
Standing with survivors of abuse through the criminal process, from first report to final hearing.
- 03
The defence of vulnerable and indigent people
Defending people who cannot afford a lawyer, including those held awaiting trial without representation.
03The pro bono team
The lawyers who take these cases.
